People to People (P2P) has designed the Amanuel Girls Boarding and Care Center (AGBCC) Rebuilding project, with the design and consultancy services provided by Debre Markos University (DMU). P2P expresses its gratitude to DMU for their contribution to the project. The project aims to provide improved facilities and comprehensive services to underprivileged and orphaned girls.
The care and support to orphan girls project in Amanuel Girls’ Boarding Care Center serves children whose families have been affected by the HIV/AIDS crisis. P2P established the Care Center in 2007 at the city of Amanuel town 30 km from DM on the way to BD.
The project has supported 65 (sixty five) vulnerable girls until they finish university education. Supported 23 orphan girls finish College studies. And assisted 15 vulnerable girls finish grade 12.
Currently, we serve around 86 orphan girls who are attending school at traditional public schools. 20 (twenty) live full-time at the Care Center and receive comprehensive care and support services (Shelter, food, educational materials, clothing, hygienic materials and recreation and psych-social support ). 38 (thirty eight) students live at home, but receive monthly financial assistance, psych-social support, and other services from the Care Center. And 30 university students get monthly financial assistance.
Many former students of the Care Center have gone on to higher education, including in the medical field. Their individual successes will also continue to power Ethiopia’s growth and development.
